FRENCH LANGUAGE STUDIES

SUMMER
 

PROGRAM REQUIREMENTS AND GENERAL INFORMATION

  • Open to beginning, intermediate, advanced and superior level French speakers
  • Open to freshmen, sophomores, juniors and seniors
  • Completed API application
  • One letter of recommendation
  • One official transcript
  • A minimum 2.75 G.P.A. is required
  • Classes taught in French
  • Housing: Local host families, dorms and studettes
  • Meals: host families and/or CROUS meal stipend card
  • Entry requirements: Valid passport
 

TOTAL CREDITS AVAILABLE PER TERM

  • 3 semester credits per session, 6 for both sessions

All summer students in Paris will also have two cultural activities per week through API.

 

ACADEMIC PROGRAM


Students in the Language and Culture Studies Program complete a combination of French language and phonetics courses. The average class size is twenty students. A student’s French level is determined by a placement exam administered upon arrival by the Sorbonne.

 

TRANSCRIPTS


Transcripts are issued by the Cours de Civilisation Française de la Sorbonne. If a student’s home university requires a U.S. school of record, they can receive a transcript from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst.
