ACADEMIC PROGRAM

API students in Syracuse attend courses at the Mediterranean Center for Arts and Sciences. MCAS specializes in classical studies (including language, philosophy, history and archaeology) and Mediterranean studies (including art history, language, literature, politics, history and the natural environment). Many classes include academic field trips as a component of the course. Regardless of individual course choices, all students are offered an
inclusive co-curricular program of excursions and weekly local events designed to introduce students to the cultural context of Sicily, Italy and the Mediterranean.

Students complete one or two classes and receive 3-7 credit hours per summer session, or 3-4 credits per course. The program fee varies according to the number of classes taken. The 6-credit Italian course counts as two classes.

Italian language courses are taught at all levels. Most other courses are taught in English. API recommends that students obtain pre-approval from their home university for courses that they plan on taking abroad.

Not all courses are offered every session. The course selection may vary and no course is guaranteed. Some courses may require additional fees for books, labs, equipment, etc. These fees are not included in the program cost. Students are encouraged to make course selections from the online listings when completing the program application as course listings, descriptions, prerequisites and/or lab fees are subject to change.

TRANSCRIPTS
