ACADEMIC PROGRAM
API students in Syracuse attend courses at the Mediterranean Center for Arts and Sciences. MCAS specializes in classical studies (including language, philosophy, history and archaeology) and Mediterranean studies (including art history, language, literature, politics, history and the natural environment). The quarter program follows a set academic schedule and may offer different excursion opportunities than the semester program. This program operates on a quarter system; students whose home university operates on a semester schedule should consider enrolling in the spring semester program. API recommends that students obtain pre-approval from their home university for courses that they plan on taking abroad.
Students complete four courses during the quarter session. Most courses consist of 30 contact hours, equivalent to 3 quarter credits (2 semester credits). The number of credits for each course is indicated in parentheses after the course title (split by quarter/semester).
Not all courses are offered every session. The course selection may vary and no course is guaranteed. Some courses may require additional fees for books, labs, equipment, etc. These fees are not included in the program cost. Students are encouraged to make course selections from the online listings when completing the program application as course listings, descriptions, prerequisites and/or lab fees are subject to change.
TRANSCRIPTS
Upon completion of coursework at the Mediterranean Center for Arts and Sciences in Syracuse, the student's transcript will be issued by Fairfield University, a four-year, fully accredited U.S. university in Fairfield, Connecticut.
