ACADEMIC PROGRAM
The Integrated Studies with Spaniards Program (PEI) offers fluent (or near fluent) Spanish speakers the opportunity to enroll directly in classes with Spaniards. This program is a great opportunity for the motivated, superior level Spanish speaker who wants to study abroad with complete immersion. Though students can choose from over 900 different subjects, a short listing of class samples is provided on the next page.
The University of Salamanca welcomes foreign students into this program who meet the following requirements: completion of a minimum of 5 semesters minimum of college level Spanish (or the equivalent proficiency) for admission; current enrollment in an American university; completion of a minimum of two and a maximum of five classes per semester.
The Fall and Academic Year programs may include a mandatory intensive two weeks of Spanish language study to help students refresh their Spanish skills and boost their confidence in the language before starting regular semester classes. Students who elect to take courses other than first year courses with Spaniards may not be eligible to complete the intensive Spanish course due to scheduling conflicts.
ADDITIONAL CREDIT OPTIONS
It is recommended that students who are not native Spanish speakers participate in the spring early start program. This program includes an intensive 3 weeks of Spanish study to refresh language skills prior to the start of the spring semester classes with Spaniards. Students may earn an additional 60 contact hours (4 U.S. semester credits) by selecting this option.
TRANSCRIPTS
API students will receive a transcript from the University of Salamanca upon completion of their program.
