PROGRAM REQUIREMENTS AND GENERAL INFORMATION

  • Open to qualified students who have already earned a Bachelor's degree
  • Students must be fluent or near-fluent in Spanish for admission
  • An oral interview required to verify level of Spanish proficiency
  • Admission is selective
  • A minimum 2.75 G.P.A. is required
  • Classes taught in Spanish
  • Housing: apartments, local host families & student residencias

ACADEMIC PROGRAM


To be accepted, students must have already earned a bachelor's degree and must have completed at least 6 semesters of college-level Spanish or the equivalent level of proficiency.

This program consists of one academic year of study at the University of Salamanca and one month of classroom practice. The second year of the program will be continued in the U.S. as arranged by the student prior to departure from Spain and is dedicated to writing the Master's thesis. This thesis must be presented in Salamanca at the end of the second year (not included in program fee). Upon completion, students will receive a Master's in Teaching Spanish as a Foreign Language from the University of Salamanca.

To receive the Master's in Teaching Spanish as a Foreign Language, the postgraduate student must complete 62 credits. Each credit represents 10 hours of class or activities of theoretical or practical nature.

THEORETICAL AND PRACTICAL CREDITS

420 hours classroom theory
FIRST SEMESTER: October - January
SECOND SEMESTER: February - May

STRICTLY PRACTICAL CREDITS

200 hours practical experience
CLASSROOM OBSERVATION: February - June
EDUCATIONAL PRACTICES: June

PROFESSIONAL RESEARCH AND PRESENTATION OF THESIS

July to May of second year
