REQUIREMENTS
- The student must have applied and been accepted to an API program.
- The student must obtain one additional letter of recommendation (in addition to the one required for the API application) from a professor or an assistant professor (for a total of 2 letters).
- The student must submit two essays:
- Now that you have chosen your study abroad destination with API, you are likely reading about the country you will soon be calling "home". Research an aspect of your host country's culture, history, society, or political structure that you find interesting and share your thoughts about it in a one-page essay. Consult at least two (2) separate sources, and be sure to cite them appropriately.
- A one-page personal essay stating the student's goals for studying abroad, and any financial needs, financial aid status, or special circumstances about which the student would like API to know.
- The student must have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 (B) or higher.
- Complete and return the scholarship application.

API/JCU DIVERSITY SCHOLARSHIP
The API/JCU Diversity Abroad Scholarship provides one full tuition scholarship per session abroad (Fall, Spring, Summer 1, Summer 2) to an outstanding minority student to encourage diversity at the John Cabot University campus in Rome, Italy.
REQUIREMENTS
- The student must have applied and been accepted to an API program.
- The student must obtain one additional letter of recommendation (in addition to the one required for the API application) from a professor or an assistant professor (for a total of 2 letters).
- The student must submit two essays:
- The United States is an ethnically and culturally diverse nation, which continues to value the role of diversity in society. Research Italy's contemporary history and discuss an example of how diversity is viewed in Italian society. Feel free to compare and contrast American and Italian perceptions of diversity in your essay, being sure to consult at least two (2) separate sources and cite them appropriately.
- A one-page personal essay stating your goals for studying abroad, financial aid status and need,
and/or special circumstances about which you would like API to know.
- Applicants must be students who are underrepresented minorities in study abroad (e.g., Black/African American; Hispanic/Latino; Native American; or Asian American).
- Complete and return the API/JCU scholarship application.
